Diamond grew up in Beijing, China. Her mother and father, both well-known visual artists and art writers fostered and supported Diamond’s passion and practice in art. In her formative years, she was introduced to works of European masters and contemporary European and American artists. Later when Diamond and her family moved to New York City, she attended Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School with a focus in fine art and gallery management. Diamond moved to Vancouver in 2006 and received her BFA from UBC. Diamond had always maintained an enthusiasm for art, departing from her own extensive art practice over time, she directed her attention towards research and writing, and favoured history, artist and viewer engagement and the business aspect of the art industry.
Diamond is knowledgeable in Chinese antiques, 19th and 20th century Chinese art, contemporary and historical Canadian and international art. Diamond speaks, reads, and writes Chinese fluently, and welcomes any inquiries in Mandarin Chinese.
