Mikayla joined our team shortly after completing Emily Carr University’s BFA program in May 2025. During these studies, often taking inspiration from nature’s visual, material, and theoretical offerings, she has worked across disciplines of painting, writing, research, and ceramics.

Originally from Gatineau, Quebec, Mikayla grew up speaking French with her mother and English with her father. Many creative figures in her family including her father have inspired her to pursue a career in art.

Mikayla was first introduced to the Gallery as Charlotte Wall’s studio assistant, meticulously cleaning between the brass typecasting letters of Wall’s Alphabet for our 2023 group show. This marked the beginning of her ongoing work with Wall, having critical roles in the production of various pieces such as Black Box and I Could Not Stop (Emily Dickinson) showcased in Charlotte Wall: Reveal, the following year.
