Part of the “Iris van Herpen: Sculpting the Senses" exhibition.
“Iris van Herpen: Sculpting the Senses" exhibition at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, part of the Louvre, is a stunning exploration of the intersection between high fashion and contemporary art. With over a hundred pieces on display, the retrospective celebrates van Herpen's avant-garde approach to Haute Couture, showcasing designs that transcend conventional clothing norms. “Celebrating her unique approach, this retrospective, organized around nine themes, identifies the essence of her work, merging fashion, contemporary art, design, and science. The theme of water and the origins of life, omnipresent in the designer’s work, opens the exhibition”. From her groundbreaking use of 3D printing to her latest collection, "Carte Blanche," the exhibition spans nine thematic sections, delving into the essence of her work. “Her latest collection, entitled Carte Blanche, showcased in this space, dialogues with David Spriggs’ work Origins, literally inviting the visitor to immerse themselves in the designer’s aquatic universe”.
David Spriggs' work Origins is intricately woven into this narrative, engaging in a visual dialogue with van Herpen's "Carte Blanche." Spriggs' exploration of space, time, and movement through layered transparent images adds a dynamic dimension to the exhibition.
This week, as David Spriggs embarked on his journey to Paris for the grand opening of the exhibition, he had the honor of offering a personal tour of his works to esteemed guests—Queen Máxima of the Netherlands and First Lady Brigitte Macron of France.
